Junior Scientists Club

Junior-Scientists-ClubNauticus/Norfolk Public Schools Junior Scientists Club 2015-2016

Nauticus and Norfolk Public Schools have created a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) after-school program for twenty-five 6th-8th graders from Ruffner Academy, Azalea Gardens Middle, Academy of International Studies at Rosemont Middle, Academy for Discovery at Lakewood, and Norview Middle Schools- the Junior Scientists Club. The goal of this program is to heighten the students’ awareness of the environmental needs and the influence mankind has on the health and preservation of the Elizabeth River and Chesapeake Bay Watershed. To accomplish the year’s goals, the club will care for an oyster float, perform water quality research, maintain a marine skimmer cleaning system, participate in Clean the Bay Day, and education Nauticus guests and their school peers about their research.

Mission Statement

NAUTICUS inspires and educates with engaging & interactive experiences that celebrate our connections with today's maritime world. Nauticus is a contemporary museum that uses the natural setting of Norfolk's harbor to showcase global maritime commerce and the world's largest Navy.

All proceeds from purchases go to the Nauticus Foundation, which helps fund many of our education and restoration projects.
