Virginian-Pilot: Carnival ship will debut a new name when it returns to Norfolk in the spring

When Carnival comes back to Norfolk next spring, the ship sailing its voyages will have a new name.

Carnival Triumph, a nearly 900-foot ship that can hold 2,750 passengers, will be going by Carnival Sunrise by the time it drops anchor at the city’s terminal.

The moniker will follow a $200 million renovation the cruise line announced in January. For two months beginning next March, the ship will be dry-docked in Spain for a makeover that will feature island-inspired stateroom decor.
