Women in STEM Day at Nauticus Showcases Local Professionals
Norfolk, VA – Visitors can meet local scientists, explore the science of both fire and water, build a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) and learn the fundamentals of echolocation during Women in STEM Day at Nauticus. This special career day highlighting women professionals will take place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. Nine representatives from local organizations involved in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) will present programming, and Nauticus educators will provide a variety of fun, STEM-related activities throughout the day.
Visitors are encouraged to “meet and greet” with this year’s participants, which include the Army Corps of Engineers, Granby High School Girls in Engineering Team, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Technical Center, PolarTREC Expeditions, Old Dominion University MonarchTeach and U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Command.
Women in STEM Day is included in regular Nauticus admission. Girl Scout troops receive a special group rate, and Girl Scouts can complete requirements to earn an Explore Nauticus patch. The deadline to register groups is March 15. Call (757) 664-1034 to book a group or 664-1041 for more information.
